When I was little I saw a spider that was about the size of a football, and when he was five years old, I thought it was better to show the size with my hands instead of trying to explain the size. So I told her that the spider was "this big", with arms outstretched in full length.
Do not think anyone thought the spider was actually "THIS BIG" but in my mind it really was!
Since then, whenever my family wants to exaggerate the size of something, which they say is "THIS BIG", which has been with us ever since.
